Timbergrove
Timbergrove lies just inside the 610
loop and west of the Houston Heights, situated on the rolling
banks of White Oak Bayou. Neighborhoods consist of
modest ranch-style homes built during the 50s and 60s.
Many Timbergrove homes have been remodeled in recent
years, with buyers finding quite affordable properties
(usually in need of some TLC) amid the towering pines of
the neighborhood.
Timbergrove is divided into two
sections, each governed by a separate homeowners
association. Deed restrictions are enforced throughout,
and the groups handle landscaping of esplanades and a
Citizens on Patrol security plan. The older portion lies
east of White Oak Bayou, where small traditional frame
houses built in the 1950s often feature metal kitchen
cabinets. The section west of the bayou is comprised of
larger, brick ranch houses built in the late 1950s and
1960s. Some of the most desirable houses are found along
Cindy Lane, Lindyann Lane and Kury Lane, which were
named for the developer's daughters.
Many of the homes in Timbergrove have
been renovated with new kitchen cabinets and refinished
floors. Quirky 1950s-era features -- such as 4-inch
bathroom tiles in vintage color pairings such as pink
and burgundy -- are a topic of conversation among
neighbors.
Timbergrove Manor's tidy ranch houses
and tree-lined streets once posed an alternative to
buyers who got priced out of the Houston Heights. Now,
that is changing.
